FinTech for the Precariat

FinTech for the Precariat
A wandering world application set in a fantastic cityscape populated by Greed, Lust, Gluttony, Envy, gig workers and 12 voices from New York City's financial spectrum. The user wanders about the environment to encounter the creatures that live in it and the financial perspectives and realities of individuals - from financial brokers to recent college grads to computer programmers and cultural workers. It has been projected that the 2020s will be the decade of the FinTech Revolution. This Marketing hyperbole is on the heels of many such revolutions that are sold on the promises of democratization and wealth. FinTech for the Precariat, questions who ultimately will these technologies serve?

Pigoon Illustration

In Margaret Atwood's MaddAddam trilogy, transgenic pigs bred to grow replacement organs for humans stir horror in the protagonists as the "pigoons" are great hunters. As much as I wanted pigoons roaming the FinTech for the Precariat environment, they may not make it in.

Envy 3D Rendering

Drawing from Giotto's representation of Envy, FinTech for the Precariat's Envy has the snake portruding from his mouth eating at his eyes and the elongated ears. However, this Envy is not an old woman with a money bag, but a business man with a red tie and red shoes and one demon hand.

Envy, Giotto 1306

Giotto's representatin of Envy was a primary inspiration. However, whereas Giotto's Envy is a woman, the Envy that roams FinTech for the Precariat is a daper dressed business man with demon-like hands, but the same extended ears and snake emerging from his mouth to eat at his eyes.

Lust 2D Concept

Lust is a non-player character roaming the environment. Inspired by Ludwig Linzinger's Lust, this lust does not have the body of a snake, but rather an STD ridden penis and testicles. Lust glides along the floor with four small penis-like legs and has the enthusiasm of a perky dog.
